Easter Egg Cross Craft

I wanted to do a craft to remind the girls that although Easter is fun with bunnies, chicks and baskets, the real reason for it is Christ. I asked the girls what they thought off when they thought of Easter and Emelie said, “Eggs” while Dani Rea said “Jesus”. How perfect to marry their thoughts by painting an egg with a cross.

Materials needed:

• Paint for egg, I chose pastel colors
• Puff balls
• Woodsies
• Pencil
• Scissors
• Painters tape
• The Downloadable Egg Template
• Foam board

Here is a picture of the template.

I cut out the egg but if Jackson had been there, I would have had him cut it himself. Then I used the egg as a template to be able to cut out the egg on the foam board.

After cutting out the egg, I used the painters tape to tape off a cross.I glued the woodsies to the tiny balls but you could use the large ones if that’s all you had.Then I put out the paint and had the girls match the balls to the paint colors. It was so interesting to watch out differently the girls painted. Emelie rubbed the colors into the 4 quadrants, while Dani Rea blotted the colors down.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

After they finished painting the eggs, I put them in the sun to dry for about 20 minutes

When I knew they were dry, I had them slowly peel the tape off to reveal their beautifully original crosses.
